India and Test Cricket

Great achievement for Team India. They have performed against all odds and predictions and made it to 0-3. In another weeks time, these results would be reversed to 0-4. Come on, have we ever forgotten how to win the matches in abroad. Did those cricketers ever notice the pre match hype in news papers - 2-1 or 3-0 or 4-0. Only once we crossed 300 mark that too when we followed on. Pathetic guys, do phase out or do post mortem whatever but all I can say is a golden opportunity missed. Also you underestimated the opponents. Kudos to team India and it will make a definite sense to have rankings as ICC Ranking for home matches, ICC ranking for away matches. ICC please think about it and you have the example here.

After an year gap

Well...I am back with a new post....It has been a long gap between by previous post and the current post.As usual, I had nothing useful to post and like a common IT guy, I didnt have the so called time to write in my own blog. My last post was about Spain's world cup win and now you could imagine my laziness here. Last four to five days, it has been raining like hell and roads have become bad worst and ugly for a common man like me. But that didnt even stop me in watching mayakkam enna movie. It was a classical one from Selva and special kudos to the camera man. Selva has cleverly understood the pulse of the young working adults and delivered a colorful film with the drama, comedy, love and more important the passion. I remembered one dialog "Since you like your job so much, you are crying because of the failure". Definitely, I would agree to that. I asked the same question within myself. Do I love my job or am I forced to love my job. Answer...slightly the combination of both. I was forced to move out of my passion (from sales) but at a later point of time I agreed myself that I was not a good material for sales and moved on. Now, I am thriving in marketing and definitely I have understood where my strength lies.

Spain - The world champions

Hi Everyone,
It was an above average finale, though we should not consider it as Grand finale or epic finale. Other than Robben's close moves, it was a boring match right from the beginning. Heck of yellow cards flew here and there with one red card which indicated clearly that both teams were in nervy mood. But you should applause the efforts of a man who did enormously well with his nature of duty "Iker casillas". He saved the best of Robben, penalty of Uruguay and Klose's long kick. He conceded only one goad and rightly deserved the Golden Glove award. Bravo man..Spain and Real Madrid should be proud of you.

Maoist attack

Hello all,
First, I should express my condolence for all, who died in the train mishap. Numbers are high this time and i frankly don't have any clue or what so ever on understanding on what these guys want? They have been claiming themselves as the saviors of the poor and rescuers of the poor from police. But the same folks executed the ruthless and arrogant train mishap which resulted 144+ killings. The government is bit sloppy by going into a defensive approach rather than into an attacking mode. You should have a proper strategy in place to control 20k maoists with 8K warriors. Mao has his words " your enemy decides on what kind of weapon you need to take". So now maoists decided to take the violent approach so.....

OMR Apartments

Last week, I visited OMR road to identify the flats for my friend. I got some thrilling on the other words stunning experience during this trip. We visited and enquired with all the builders and the standard rates have been pretty high at all times. I am publishing the appoximate rate structure average per sq.feet here.

Opaline Olympia - 3800+
Hiranandani - 4500+
TVH - 3800+
L&T EDEN - 4300+
Real Value promoters - 2700+ (They are yet to get the approval)
Puravankara - 2200+ (Resides on the outskirts of Kelambakkam -4 kms away)
Marg - 2200+
Dugar Gold city - 2700+
Chennai pattinam - 2100+
Lotus pond Vijaya Shanthi -2700+
Arihant - 2500+

The others like Akshaya were sold out. Due to home loan aggressive offers, Many are tend to purchase a flat and the reason might be the rental increase in the main areas like velachey and guindy and other reason would be the tangible asset come investment. I came to know that there were lesser recession effects for the builders. So visit OMR and get one flat.

Surf Excel - Common sense

Hope you folks have noticed Surf excel's advertisement commonsense. As a person from marketing department, I just wanted to be in common sense list by trying surf excel with my top loading washing machine. My wife and I had a lengthy argument about this and she doubted about the validity of this ad and it would be full of marketing jargon. At the end of the argument, I decided to purchase the top loading powder and experiment it. Obviously, I obtained the same results of 50% purity which was similar to the normal surf excel. After that I tried with Ariel and it produced say around 70% purity. So my advise is please have common sense.

New year 2010

Shutters down for 2009 and we have entered the new year 2010. Last year, I took a resolution to respect traffic signals. I ended up with the ratio of 70:30 with initial 7 months I respected and after that I didn't. But this time I have planned to carry forward this resolution and aimed to take another resolution as well. I would want to read at least 20 books for this full year which will roughly cost you 2 books per month types. I don't know even I might think that it would be like a target in sales which could be ever achieved. But let me see and at least make it 80:20. And another sub resolution is I need to read a new article on a day to day basis and 2 posts per month. I believe these activities will help me to bolster my thirst for knowledge initiative and hunger to improve my skills as well.

For this month, I have taken the famous book Winning from Jack Welch

Attractive SaaS question

Hello All,

When I was googling for saas related articles, this question attracted me. "What happens to my data if my SaaS service provider/remote hosting service/other outsourced service fails as a business and is forced to close?". I will post the answer in my next post. Meanwhile, if you know the answer for this question, please add a comment in my post.

Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt - The man you could ever imagine. Rediff has pointed correctly as "Mind blowing bolt". He has achieved the newer mile stone by beating his own record 9.74 to 9.58. It is now a world record for the 100m race and he has finished with his own style. Now the media has started comparing Bolt and Jesse Owens and not only for the record but also the character, temperament and the style. The response from this dynamic personality for the new world record " I was thinking 9.40 but happy for 9.58". That means his journey is not over as yet. So wish him for the next world record. BTW, Dravid is back.

Sridhar Vembu - The new charisma in the software world

Hello All,

It is a healthy morning today despite Swine flu fears. I have seen a banner rather a poster behind a car saying "Zoho - your online office". A name has certainly changed the name of the company, focus and new energy to the total software industry. This company with the former name "Adventnet" has renamed themselves as "Zoho" and you have to really appreciate their Branding and promotional activities. They are competing with Google docs and infact they have won a big deal with GE. Zoho CRM, word, excel - what else and what not. It is very easy to get your login ID password with the help of your yahoo and gmail ID. It is not Sridhar's entire work and he hasn' t believed this concept will work for "Adventnet" (Referred from his blog: http://blogs.adventnet.com/svembu/). Folks, He has the right to slam Microsoft and he has done it in a beautiful way. (Again refer his blog). It is the new beginning and they have done decently well to cope up with Micrsoft and Google's standards. For more visit www.zoho.com.

Tata Nano

Hello all,
Today is the remarkable day for car users especially for middle class and lower middle class community. Tata has planned to handover Nano car's fist key to a mumbaikar. They believe that they can give all 100000 cars by the end of q,2010. This is due to production contraints and they can advance the production to supply more nano cars. Though the car looks nano or even i can say Micro, it is ok for the Middle class and lower middle class audience. A car with the price of 1 lakh and people can easily compare prices with Pulsar or Unicorn, which have the price of 65k and 60k respectively. But nano's performance???? we should wait and see.

Budget and Sensex

Hello All,
Budget and sensex are the two dissimilar characters but one's plus may become the onus of the other's. I came across an interesting article in Hindu about Budget and commonsense. Everyone knew that the sensex had crashed 800 points during budget session. The reason was straightforward " didnt meet the expectation". But anybody understood the important factor like: Presented in budget vs layman's understanding towards the budget. Post budget discussion wont help you in future with this volatile market. Citizens of India should be educated during the budget session itself on what is there for the common man. Will it possible. Yes it should be right..Government should release the parallel budget explanation document or the other choice would be "stop the trading for a day".
After a long time, I have come up with this post but what I did during this time
1. Mourned Michies death
2. Hailed the determination of Fedex
3. Hailed Andy Roddick
4. Became the fan of Zoho.com and Sridhar Vembu
5. Admired cricket in pakistan and pakistan's cricket

Sensex and it is very sensitive index

Hello All,
It was a hot and race session in Mumbai for the past 3 days. In the history of sensex, This was the first time where the sensex closed due to high volatile purchase. Sensex zoomed 2000 points in few hours of trading and market was shut down for the full working day. The reason was the elections where Singhji has formed a stable government for the next five years. Will this trend reduce the slowness in Indian market and especially in the IT industry? My answer is may be. Since the companies have got enough cash inflow for the past 2 days, they may try to invest more in their recent initiatives. But who knows? Any way let us welcome this trend and it will be a good start for Indian future.

Varun

The Elections 2009

Hello All,
It was been quite long time to cope up with personal and office works to write a small post. Though this reason looks childish I am unable to find any other reason. Things apart, we all had election and IPL fever (still continuing) this month. Elections - This was the first time in Tamilnadu where we had 70+ percentage of polling and the results outplayed or outsmarted predictions and it was awesome. People voted not for party not for slogan and they voted for reality and they voted for the individual performance. Examples P.Chidambaram and R.Velu. Doing everything for India and Tamilnadu alone was not enough rather you should do something for your own constituency. Another example is TR Balu and another is Vaiko. So democracy is still very much alive and the power is still with a common village person.

Sathyam and Rubber Stamp

Hello All,
After a long long time, I came up with a post that too with the recent so called" Sathyam Saha".....Whenever you win in the race, every one will praise you...When you start loosing the game, every one will start blame you.....That is what exactly happened in Sathyam's case....I heard one road shop fellow comment "One computer shop sathyam is in cheating case"......Gentleman it is not a computer shop or an ordinary store....It was an Era....It was an effort from a village man's son....It was a company which has 185 fortune 500 clients.....What a sudden failure...where the mistake is .....I read an excellent article from outlook business.....It is a comparative study.....I liked one of former cricketer Attapattu's comments about Srilankan cricket board " Full of puppets headed by a Joker".....It is not the same but It happened....Sathyam was all about Top down approach......Board of members were acted as a rubber stamp rather they forced to...Mytas acquisition was the last effort to make sathyam in road...But it was a failure attempt and the big man is now in Jail....I discussed with one of my friend" why all these problems if he sold Sathyam to IBM two months back" ..The answer I got is "Raju's vision was to create Sathyam like IBM".....If he did wrong or not, we need to accept his brave heart on his confession that too from the position of CEO of Sathyam.

Hello All,
Go Green is the recent Buzz word for Indian economy and especially with IT companies. The idea is termed as one of the key differentiator for the IT companies in competitive market. US companies want to work with the companies which are environment friendly. Hope you all had the possibility to view IBM's recent advertisement on "Go Green " concept. So what is that "Go Green".. Simple...Environment friendly and saving power or energy..U want detail???Here it is.........For companies, 'going green' means taking several steps such as using machines with power-saving mode, using natural light in offices during day time, increasing employee awareness on energy conservation, re-cycling/reusing of packaging material, avoiding use of polythene, reducing consumption of stationery and following LEED norms for construction purpose. Hello All,
I would like to recollect some of the events/incidents/happened things in the year 2008.

2. Abinav's Gold from Shooting...which is his own effort by having one foreign coach with the lack of indian standards and full credit to him. India can only proud of him because he is an Indian.

6. Economy slow down- Impacted heavily in Indian economy and see- saw market with zig-zag sensex points on a day to day basis....
7. Got red handed in cheating---It is Sathyam and the world bank Saha

Single Step

Hello All,
Again one quote " The great journey starts with the single step"....Yes when you want to go upwards in your life you have to take a step forward to do that....I have one classic example of my friend of not doing that.....He wanted to write his own blog 4 months back......One week he repeatedly told me his interest...I asked him "why dont you start right away" and i got one answer " you are writing for fun but I have lots of concerns and parameters to start a blog...My blog should be creative, informative, useful, should cover all the areas below the sky and alll...Yes, we need to agree that he has some specific reason for blogging ...but he started blogging?????Answer is no....your interest should impress you first and then it should attract others.....There comes the picture of single step...You need to start with a post as a single step so that it can be a great journey in blogging.... And the important thing is single step should continue and it cant stop for whatever reason.....
